One well tasted sweet 
(l'eau frais)
the other of salt
(la mer)

Then a third was built 
to match the first
(l'enterprise)

But three turned out
like two, making one 
l'ingénue.

Alas, there have been forty-
nine attempts to match 
the original sweetness
(la rosée)

And not a one can quench.
